Helidragon was commissioned by Van Oord to document the mobilisation of the *Calypso* while berthed at Battleship Wharf, Port of Blyth, ahead of the vessel commencing operations in support of the offshore renewable energy sector.

The project focused on capturing the preparations taking place on board and around the vessel as personnel, equipment and supplies were assembled, ready for deployment. While much of the attention in offshore projects is focused on activity at sea, a huge amount of work takes place alongside the quayside before a vessel ever leaves port.

Working within a live operational port environment, the Helidragon team used a combination of drone aerial filming and ground-based cameras to document the scale of the vessel and the activity taking place around her. Filming was carefully coordinated to ensure operations could continue safely while capturing the imagery required for the production.

One of the things we enjoy most about filming in ports is the opportunity to see the offshore industry up close. Mobilisation projects provide a fascinating insight into the planning, logistics and teamwork required to support offshore operations, much of which often goes unnoticed once a vessel is underway.
